Now with CMS, there was little you could do without editing the game, but it literally let you get your hands on every part in the car. Sure, the Satsuma has no torque, littrle horsepower, but it handles well. I mean take MSC or CMS15, both games allow you to literally turn wrenches on your cars. Now from the description I was expecting a hell of a lot more when it comes to customizing. Once a car starts to "fishtail" it just won't stop even when it has already slowed to a speed where it just shouldn't have enough momentum to do much of anything. The key prompts that do exist have icons that are too small to read from the couch (playing on HDTV) and don't seem to agree with any key or controller button. The button maps for 2/3rds of the buttons are not illustrated anywhere that's visible, the hud sometimes disappears and it's not clear at all if it's a bug or I have to mash a key to get it back. I couldn't find any map function, Actually, my first task on any of these maps has been to get the airplane airborne and search around for anything worth trying to drive to. The maps are just a bland maze of unmarked roads with almost no destinations, just a tangle of roads that do nothing but connect to other roads. The airplane mod is more fun and more driveable than any of the cars. Most of the cars seem to spin out from coasting in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ straight line at ordinary freeway speeds. The rubber on those tires isn''t even worthy of a pencil.

Sure, this thing's graphics and physics engine can mop the floor with any of the games just listed but it's wasted on a game that has practically nil entertainment value.

I've been playing lots of car games recently.Īll of them have their own charm or are genuinely educational and have things to recommend them.
